The Mount Pleasant Area High School has earned the Governor's Civic Engagement Award for the 2022-23 school year for educating, engaging and informing Pennsylvania students on how to get involved in the voting process. Congratulations to Mr. Gumbita and Mr. Capozzi for their continued efforts to register 12th grade students to vote!!

Mrs. Mulnix's AP Biology students prepared for the dissection and anatomical exploration of their specimens in class today.

Teaching is a labor-intensive, emotionally demanding, physically exhausting, yet intrinsically rewarding profession. By choice, many teachers devote time beyond the contractual day; voluntarily purchase incentives for students; and take concerns about students home in their hearts and minds. They are devoted to and protective of their students, often regarding "their kids" as extended family. Teachers change the world "one child at a time" by inspiring and supporting students in becoming very best version of themselves. The impact teachers have on students’ lives is immeasurable. Most often, teachers don't get to witness their personal influence on children’s lives. Once in a while, students return to express the ways in which a teacher has impacted their paths and decisions in life. To show your appreciation, be that current or former student. Touch base with a teacher who inspired you and played a key in helping you achieve your full potential. Our community thanks Mount Pleasant Area School District teachers for the time, effort, and compassion they devote EVERY.SINGLE. The Mount Pleasant Area School District will host a satellite CWCTC program designed for Juniors and Seniors in Westmoreland County who aspire to become teachers. Congratulations to Ms. Cheryl Lipko on receiving the prestigious 2023 Harold W. Pote Behind Every Graduate Award!! This award is given out each year by Drexel University to an outstanding high school teacher. Ms. Lipko was nominated by her former student, Julia Dengler, who will be graduating this year from the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to these incredible ladies whose superpowers enable them to juggle a multitude of responsibilities and tend to hundreds of students WHILE traveling from school to school through the district to ensure coverage and adequate care. AP World History instructor Mr. Svidron and MPAHS students Charisma Diehl, Aden Geary, Trinity Graft, Hannah Heinnickel, Lillian Hunter, Shannon McCandeless, Emma Scanlon, Alison Tepper, Izabella Wilt, and Sasha Shogan took part in the annual “Senator for a Day” experience at Penn State Fayette. Students were given the opportunity to exercise their debate skills on sensitive topics and learn how bills are amended, argued, and voted upon. Thank you, Senator Stefano, for hosting such an enriching event!!

Congratulations to these Scholars who earned a spot in the Top 10% of their graduating class!! And, many thanks to the Mount Pleasant Rotary for the scholarship awards and the celebratory banquet last evening.

Five Mount Pleasant Area High School seniors were selected by the Daily Courier as "Teens of the Week." Our students attended an honorary event last evening.

Mount Pleasant Area secondary students participated in the district's "Freezin' for a Reason" event this morning. Proceeds benefit life skills support programming and the blue shirts club.

Our technology education and family consumer science teachers joined forces to create a Crème Brûlée lab. Students learned how to use torches to caramelize sugars. Thank you Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Smith for showing students how these subject areas can intersect. #délicieuse

Congratulations to Alyssa Savage, Elizabeth Christofano, and Olivia Powell on an amazing performance in Jr. High District Chorus on Saturday. Many thanks to Mrs. Rish for her mentorship of these talented young ladies.

MPA secondary students crafted some innovative structures for the "Anything that Floats!" race, in which teams of four are challenged to build human-propelled, homemade boats/floats that can travel 2 lengths of the pool. Congratulations to our winners and all participants!!

Mount Pleasant Area High School students enrolled in AP Biology were challenged to extract DNA from a variety of fruits using only the resources available to them in the lab space. Kudos to Mrs. Mulnix for structuring problem-based learning experiences that prepare our students for contemporary workforce demands!! #OurStudentsAreOurFuture
