Our Ramsay 4th graders participated in their first ever STEM competition today at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit #7. A great time was had by all!!

In her AP World History class, Madison Poole took the initiative to showcase the unique strengths and aspirations of her female classmates for women’s history month. She also interviewed and included assistant superintendent Dr. Beth Hutson. Great work, Madison!!

3rd Quarter Perfect Attendance Breakfast Celebration 👏

Jennifer Barry from the UPMC Healthy Choices for Students program spoke with 7th and 8th graders about infectious diseases and nutrition. She'll return later this spring to address the dangers of tobacco and vaping.

Mount Pleasant Area secondary students represented our district extremely well at the Project-Based Learning: Student Sustainability Design Challenge, held at the Energy Innovation Center in Pittsburgh, PA. 5th grade recently had the "egg-citing" opportunity to hatch chicks in the classroom.

Today, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania visited Ramsay Elementary School to conduct an assembly for 4th grade students.

Ms. Krider and her English 12 students enjoyed their visit to the Titanic Exhibit at the Carnegie Science Center.

Twelve of our Viking learners had the opportunity to step into the shoes of a state senator today, and immerse themselves into what our state government does daily. Thanks to Senator Pat Stefano for hosting this annual daylong event at Penn State, Fayette.

Mr. Svidron's students are busy at work preparing to feed 168 families in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. Officer Stahl served as a guest reader for students at Donegal Elementary in celebration of Read Across America Week.

Juniors Rylin Bugosh and Paige Lorince attended the World Affairs Council Global Sustainability Conference at the William Pitt Union on the University of Pittsburgh campus through the Mount Pleasant Rotary; the young ladies learned from expert speakers about climate impact both around the world and in Pittsburgh, how to build partnerships, and work together as global citizens to make a difference. 7th and 8th grade Mikayla’s Voice mentors visited Norvelt Elementary today. Students shared the story of Mikayla’s Voice through interactive readings in Kindergarten and 1st grade classes. Mentors painted kindness rocks with a selected group of students that resembled the lady bug from Mikayla’s story, “The Spot”. Additionally, our junior high mentors were able to provide each of the classrooms we visited with their own set of Mikayla’s stories as well as several sets for the school library.
